Together for our sea, even at Christmas

Christmas is fast approaching and again this year the WWF recommends some fish recipes for New Year’s Eve Dinner specially conceived for an environmentally friendly menu.
Nowadays, in fact, while 88% of the Mediterranean sea is exposed to overfishing, ¾ of the fish eaten annually in Italy (900,000 over a total of 1,20,000 tons) is imported from all over the world, and especially from the developing countries. The day-to-day decisions of consumers can make a difference: besides combating the depletion of fish stocks, buying sustainable fish means helping the 800 million people who depend on fishing for their subsistence throughout the world.
WWF Seafood Guide provides interesting buying tips that are valid all the year round, such as which certifications guarantee compliance with sustainability criteria (MSC and ASC), and launches 9 innovative recipe ideas, such as the caramote prawn kerkénaise, palamita on fresh egg pasta and mullet fillets with crunchy vegetables and green tea.
Over-exploitation of living marine resources can only be halted through the collaboration of everyone. EUROJERSEY supports WWF Italy in promoting a more responsible fish consumption.
